Gitzo Gm45452 Serie 5 Monopod Argenté

I found the Monopod too be very compact,light,and extremely stable.I like how easy it is to use in the field.

Its significantly bigger in my hands than the Oben, but not necessary a bad thing for me (I have medium sized hands). Slightly heavier than the Oben but still lighter than most aluminum monopods Ive used. The turn locks are smooth and seems to be well built when compared- time will tell for sure. Im 62 and the camera/lens at full length reaches above my head which comes very much in handy when shooting from a higher level than the foot (eg. a staircase) The rubber foot pivots very nicely and is a welcomed feature, however it does make a lot of squeaky noise after some uses which is problematic for sound sensitive shoots like golf. Cleaning and some WD-40 works to solve this.

This Mono is lightweight, sturdy and easy to handle. Smooth operation when you extend leg sections. Solid when fully extended.

I purchased this to hold my very expensive Nikon lenses. The monopod broke at the first joint. I can not even put it back together. I would not expect this from such an expensive product. I would not recommend this product to anyone. I was about to purchase a Gitzo tripod but now with the experience Ive had with the Gitzo monopod, I will not even consider purchasing another Gitzo product or any product made by this manufacturer.
