The Redmi Note 9T from Xiaomi gives you plenty of smartphone for your money, with 5G connectivity, a large screen and impressive battery life all wrapped up in a package that won't cost you much at all. It's an appealing proposition for bargain smartphone hunters.

I needed to upgrade from my Samsung S6. I also wanted to buy a handset and get a sim only deal to reduce my monthly costs. So, with some trepidation I did my research on handsets available from on line suppliers like bangood/Alibaba? I settled on this handset but chose to buy with my credit card through Amazon so I had some comeback if it turned out to be rubbish. Buying this phone was one of my better decisions. Battery life is exceptional - 48 hours minimum from new though I think it is reducing very slightly over time. Upshot is that you will NEVER worry about battery life with this phone. In all other respects it is at least the equal of my Samsung phone - it also has masses of memory - I still have 50% free memory. All apps work perfectly. It also has built in maintenance apps to maintain performance. This (or any later model by Redmi) is highly recommended.

my first XiaoMi phone was an MiA1. It was brilliant. Superb value at a low price, with an amazing camera which allowed beautiful high resolution shots of insects, flowers, had great natural colour photos without any need to change settings, and very intuitive software. This Redmi note 9T has been a huge disappointment. Mainly the camera - which is frankly mediocre - difficult to get it to focus on a particular area of an image, poor colour, low resolution. Compared to my friends' phones they all agree. Basic functions like adjusting the settings are much less intuitive. Icons aren't so easy to understand. And some features such as screen dimming for evening use are really poor compared to jmy old model. Also, unlike my previous MiA1 which was all google apps, on the RedMi there's far too much XiaoMi software installed. I was delighted with my first XiaoMi, but this one is a huge disappointment.

Does not hold battery for long. Keeps disconnecting from wifi when the phone is not in use and regularly disconnects for reasons known only to Xiaomi. Have to keep manually reconnecting it, usually every 30 mins. Cannot switch of DND, so phone is now dictating when I should be going to bed. It has weird double negative language questions, that are confusing. Are you sure you do not want to turn off the repeating alarm. 'Erm its 6:00 o'clock on a Saturday morning, I set this alarm 2 weeks ago, why is it still going off' It will be going back, its the worst phone I have ever had.
