A great Windows 8 phone in it's time, complete with 4G and wireless charging. Unfortunately, because of it's processor and amount or RAM (memory), it cannot be updated to Windows 10.

If you are looking for a high quality, dependable, basic Windows phone, the Lumia 820 really can't be beat. It pairs a decent processor and good storage capacity, with an outstanding true black display and high quality 8 mp camera. The Windows 8.1 OS is silky smooth and completely glitch-free. It's also built like a tank - solid, sturdy and virtually indestructible, and not at all like newer lightweight plastic phones. Part of this is due to the large high capacity battery, but is also the result of its heavy-duty construction. While you might be attracted by the much larger 5" screens now offered on newer models, this handset is very ergonomic and fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. After three years of use, the Lumia 820 remains my favorite device ever. It's good as new, and I dread the day I will soon need to upgrade.

It is a decent unlocked phone. It came with windows 8 mobile, and updated to 8.1 mobile after a couple days of having it. I love the ability to be able to speak into the phone to get internet searches and for filling in texts, as I don't have to type. The windows phone will not upgrade to windows 10 mobile, even though there are other models that will. So apps such as facebook and messanger will not work on the phone, as neither will sit upon windows 8.1 mobile. I can log into my facebook and messenger accounts via IE, but I am older and don't care about either. The phone does not recognize the sd card, but I was able to find a storage app that recognizes the sd card and will store photos and videos. I am not sure that Microsoft is going to fix this problem, as win 8.1 mobile is old, compared to win 10 mobile The main feature is the ability to be able to use whatever SIM card that I need to use, depending on where I am in the world.
