Yes this lens is fantastic - but Amazon is not an authorized seller of Tamron in Canada. No warranty, no service - nothing! I've been using it for great photos for 2+ years but now that I need a firmware update, I can't do it through Tamron Canada. You may save a little money on Amazon but you don't get the 6-year warranty. Do yourself a favour and buy through a different seller!

I had high hopes for this lens as it is a great price for a fast 70-200 lens. Unfortunately after looking at some of my initial photos i noticed that the image was soft on the left side. I tested the lens with a calibration test sheet and discovered that the center and right side were remarkably sharp, but the left side indeed was out of focus. This cannot be fixed and is called lens de-centering, where one or more of the lens elements isn't perfectly aligned with the others. Lens was returned back to Amazon. I love their return policy!

Tack sharp photo's. Have to watch some of the switches as they are easy to move off setting when handling lense.

So far I love this lens. I haven't had a lot of opportunity to test it out fully, but it seems sharp right out of the box. Focus is fast, and accurate. The VC is top notch on the Tamron lenses allowing one to use slower shutter speeds handheld when light is poor. I haven't noticed any issues bumping the switches. The lens hood stays on well, protecting the glass. Focus ring is smooth. I'm looking forward to working more with this beautiful lens.
