This lens is small, light, fast and very sharp; the only negative is that it's notorious for its slow autofocus. Nevertheless, as long as you're not trying to follow focus on fast moving subjects, it performs excellently. Being so small and light I leave it in the camera bag all the time when I'm using zooms, in case I need a faster lens or just by way of a change. If it were not for the slow autofocus I would've given the lens five stars.

This would be such a great lens if there was not a banding problem at high ISO! Some kind of electrical interference. It is a well documented and discussed problem. Also, it focuses at a leisurely pace, which means you will miss shots of animals and children. The focus is also noisy and produces a loud buzz in video.

This lens works great with my Olympus Micro 4/3 cameras. Autofocus is not as lightening fast as my Olympus lenses but it is not at all bad. This lens is very sharp. Wide open, it has great bokeh. Color rendition is a little cooler and less punchy than my Olympus lenses. Contrast is also lower. I highly recommend this lens for Olympus, Panasonic, and other Micro 4/3 cameras. It is also an outstanding value.

Awesome lens for outdoor/street photography. It looks really discrete. There is some autofocus noise, most noticeably in a quiet room. You can feel the autofocus through your fingers compared to the kit lens or the pan 42.5 f1.7 (which are definitely quiet).

I love the Olympus 17mm F1.8, so this pancake had a lot to live up to. After using both, I much prefer using this lens. Not only is it small and light, there is just something about the 40mm point of view and the colorsthat this lens produces. It reminds me of film, it just has a character to it that the oly17mm did not have. The auto focus is nothing to write home about, it is a little slow and will sometimes hunt for its target. But when you get accustomed to it and focus on its pros rather than cons, this little gem is a legend. I would recommend this lens to any m43s shooter. Try one and you will fall in love.
