Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 30 mm 1:3.5 Macro

A nice addition to the M43 system. Very nice macro lens for almost nothing (less then $ 160) if you wait for a sale. The main problem is that if you want to go near 1:1 it is nigh impossible to get good lighting on the subject. Diffusers and (self made macro flash) of added lled lights can help. BUT, these solution negate the usefullness in practical use. So my conclusion is for home macro with a lot of lighting possibilities it is ok. But for use in outdoor macro shooting it is one of the most difficult lenses to use. It could be so much better when it would have the added lights the brilliantly constructed canon lenses with the built-in macro leds. Recommend for close up and street, not for real macro. Allmost all of my m43 stuff has gone due to going back to 2 systems.

Good Points: Small, light, easy to use. Improvement Points: Auto focus tends to hunt quite a bit but this is a common problem amongst macro lenses

We bought this as a gift for our daughter in law. While I dont know anything about cameras, she does and she said that she loves this lens.

This lens is an amazing value. It has great sharpness and color and extremely fast autofocus. If you have never used a macro lens before, it will open up a whole new world to you. If you shoot Olympus or other micro 4/3, you owe it to yourself to buy this lens.
