OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko 45 mm f/1.2

The king of the hill for portrait primes in M4/3. Nocticron varies too much between copies.

Good Points: Excellent build Improvement Points: No

I bought this lens a couple of months ago after testing a total of five samples. My tests are "unscientific", buildings at different f-stops, and thereafter every-day photography with varying light and objects. Fully open the performance of this lens is at such a level that you feel there is nothing more you could ask for. Excellent contrast and sharpness throughout the entire image, even the most outer corners. Stopping down to 1.2 and 2.0 show that even more is possible. Razor-sharp and excellent micro-contrast right to the very edges. This is probably the best lens in its range I have had in my hands - ever. Would be interesting to see a comparison to Leica Apo-Summicron 90mm. The lens gives me the feeling to being right in itself, it feels well balanced in every respect, harmonious - it is difficult to put into words.

This lens is great for indoor sports and allows me to shoot at faster speeds to stop some of the action. I would strongly recommend this to friends.

This is my second Olympus f1.2 Pro lens and Im thoroughly impressed. So bright. Beautiful bokeh. So easy to isolate your subject with that shallow depth of field. Sharp end to end. Excellent build quality. Its fun to shoot. This along with the equally exceptional 17mm f1.2 is about all I need.
