After struggling with an AFS motor that was dying in my 28-70 f/2.8 for the past year I decided it was time to replace it w/ the 24-70 f/2.8. I should have done it sooner. I realize mirrorless is the future and the F-mount will go the way of the dinosaur but I couldnt help replace my workhorse with this lens. It is fast, it is sharp, it nails focus, it is versatile. I love shooting primes, but this lens is wonderful for those situations when I dont feel like fussing w/ lens changes throughout the day. It just gets the job done, and it does it exceptionally well. It is worth every penny.

This is my latest Nikkor purchase of a long line of Nikon products since my first Nikon F in 1964. As one would expect from a lens with these specifications (Nikkor, F2.8G, ED, N) this lens affords fast and accurate focusing, excellent Depth-O-Field control, and incredible sharpness; edge to edge. The performance is top of the line. I purchased this to replace a 17-55 F2.8 DX used on a D2x, allowing the use of this lens with the previous body or a new full frame body. The weight of this lens suggests that the body has a long grip for easier carrying. On other than the tall Nikon cameras, a battery grip such as I have installed on my D-750 really helps holding and counter balancing the weight. The weight becomes of little importance after seeing the results of this magnificent chunk of glass.

The focal length range is one of my most used in the camera bag. Sharp with good contrast and color shot wide open or stopped down. Very happy!

This has become my go to lens on my D850. I love its focus range. It is very fast focusing and I love the images it captures. Before this lens my 17-35mm lens was always on the body. Now unless Im in the field shooting landscapes or in close quarters shoot a group of people this lens will be used.
