I was very pleased when I received this lens. The purchase went really smooth with excellent service, 1 day delivery and well packaged. This lens is strong built, balances well on the Fuji X-T3 and is very sharp all the way to the corners at any f-stop, I can't see any vignetting at all. Exactly as advertised. First impressions on macro photos are "stunning". I can only recommend this jewel of a lens.

This Laowa 65mm f/2.8 (X-Mount) is an all metal construction with excellent quality glass. It’s a short telephoto and 1:1 and 2:1 macro lens. Focusing (MF) is easy with this especially because the focus throw between 0.37 and infinity is short but accurate. The clicked aperture ring is not linear but is precise and feels secure. Focusing in low light is best done at f/2.8 in medium to good light focusing at any aperture is easy enough. The lens feels very nicely balanced on the XT3. While the well focused results are pin sharp, the images have a soft feel to them. The metal hood is deep (so of no use for macro work). Overall a very versatile extremely well build MF lens. Highly recommended. The service from UK digital was excellent!

This lens is remarkable for its low price and top notch sharpness, even wide open. Sharpness begins to drop off beyond F11 due to the effects of diffraction as it will on any apsc lens. Bear in mind that it is completely manual. There is no autofocus or auto aperture and no optical image stabilisation. Dispensing with these has presumably enabled the makers to concentrate on image quality alone, which is what really counts.

Had fuji 80mm macro , hardly ever used it ,too big and too heavy . Bought this and what a difference . So light and manouverable . Manual focus and manual exposure ,but so easy with focus peaking . Sharpness is excellent and so well matched with the Fuji XT3 .

Build and handling are very good for the price but the image quality is superb. From f/2.8 to pretty much f/22 the images are sharp, show virtually no distortion or chromatic aberration. Contrast is also excellent. The (metal) lens hood does not click into place but seems secure enough. It will store on the end of the lens when reversed. The focussing all takes place within the lens barrel and does not protrude at any point which accounts for the length of the lens. Needless to say very close-up shots yield extremely challenging focussing due to wafer thin depth of field and manual focus is perhaps preferable at times. A useful technique is to shoot jpeg+raw and set a film simulation to a black and white one. Then use focus-peaking as an aid which is considerably easier to see without colour being a distraction. This lens can make a great portrait lens and a useful landscape one when a bit more reach is needed. Thoroughly recommended.
