Generique 7.5mm F2 Wide Angle Lens

I am a pilot and since the beginning, it has been next to impossible to take a really nice picture of the WHOLE cockpit during flight, and when it's really important, at night under the Northern Lights. The widest lenses I've had to use create extreme fish eye effect and the widest without distortion dont come nearly close enought to fitting the whole cockpit in the shot. The Laowa 7.5mm gets both side windows in the shot along with the entire cockpit panel with minimum fish eye effect. With tiny details such as the gauges, it is very important to have a crisp photo right to the edges as well. Right down to f/2 is even clear enough around the edges to get a good shot. This is a very niche subject to be shooting but this lens was made for it. Perfect.

Very small lens, suites the BMPCC 4K quite well. Surprisingly this lens has no distortion which is something you get on most ultra wides. Looking forward to putting this lens through its paces.

I use this lens for real estate videos on my BMPCC4k. After using a Rokinon 14mm and fighting the constant barrel distortion I love this Laowa lens with no distortion. Wall lines are sharp and straight! This lens is tiny, feels like a toy but is built solid. I love how small and lightweight it is.

Since this lens is excellent, I will only list cons: 1. Aperture ring is very close to the body of the camera 2. Focus pull direction is opposite of normal 3. 46mm filters will clip into your shot 4. F/2 on a m43 is equivilent to F/4 on a full frame 5. IBIS wont always, but can make the footage appear to jello, even on GH5. 6. I suggest a fluid head tripod or a gimbal stabilizer if you are shooting video. Just BUY THE LENS, and cry about the cons later. You will not find a lens this sharp, with less distortion, at this size & at this price-point. It is a monster.

I'm currently using this lens, like most people, for real estate on my GH5S. Its sharp, small, little distortion, and generally performs well! Great contrast and color rendition. However, my biggest pet peeve is the coatings. There is absolutely no flare control on this lens at all, and the hood does nothing to help. Shooting directly into the sun results a massive rainbow colored starburst that totally ruins the image. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at this price point, and for certain situations its a cool effect...but very distracting for real estate. Bottom line...don't point this directly at bright sources. Its pretty gross looking. But I guess that's subjective.
