Too Good to be True

You get what you pay for, and this lens is no exception. There are two things I like about this lens. Its small, its beautiful. And that is it. For a photographer this lens is a disaster. The list of cons include: fisheye distortion, vignette, soft focus, and terrible lowlight performance. The color is ok but I had to spend more time getting rid of the vignette which in the end turns this tool into a ball and chain in photoshop. Just save your money and purchase a better lens with good glass.

Nice for playing

The bokeh and low depth of focus you can achieve with this lens are awesome for playing with what you capture. I agree that with the aperture fully open, its quite difficult to get the shot properly focused, but thats because the depth of focus is just a few centimeters for closer objects. And you have to count with the bokeh - on f/1.2, its quite strong and gives the photos a dreamy haze. The build seems to be pretty solid, everything from metal. Maybe thats why its a bit heavier than oned expect, but thats okay.

Dont buy his!

Looks nice is light but thats about it. 1.2 creamy blur etc. To get it into focus is a disasters (Peak white high) Go for another third party lens which are way better and cheaper. Dont go for 7 Artisans. Go for: it starts with a M and ends with an E. 1.4 35mm. It can be nice if the image doesnt look to perfect and more analoog but dont do this using 7 Artisans!

Excellent Lens

Of the three 7artisans lenses I have tried (25mm, 35mm and 55mm), the 35 is by far the best. Color and sharpness are excellent, even wide open. Construction is very good for the low price point. The 25mm is a very good lens. The 55mm has an extremely shallow depth-of-field and is hard to focus. The 35mm is the do-all lens of the group with the best characteristics in my opinion.

Seriously Impressed

I was skeptical about this lens, but it has quickly become my new favorite bit of kit. Got this just before a recent trip to Japan and it ended up staying on my X-PRO 2 basically the entire trip. With the X-PRO 2 producing solid images all the way up into the 6400 ISO range, I was able to just leave this thing stopped all the way down and focused at infinity and confidently shoot away with only minor adjustments throughout the day. admittedly, this probably isnt for everyone, but its proved to be perfect for me. Still, if youve already got on of the Fuji 35mm lenses, I dont think theres much of a reason to go for this guy. But, if you want to save a few bucks and walk away with a solid lens for street photography, I highly recommend this.
