This thing is built much stronger and heavier than I expected. I'm upgrading from a 10-15-year-old Baratza grinder, which used to wake up the entire house when I made my first cup in the morning. The Eureka is quiet. It's very heavy and seems like it will last decades. So far, I'm happily surprised that I can make a much better cup of coffee than I could with the old Baratza. Nothing against Baratza, it was old and wasn't well taken care of, either. I was tempted by all the new, more expensive single-dose grinders that have come to market in recent years, but I also noticed how many of them had issues because they were new and still working out the kinks. I purchased the Specialita because it's been around, parts are plentiful, and it's proven its worth for years. I would 100% purchase this again.

Takes a bit to dial in but you get consistent results once you do

Grinds like a champ! The bean "stopper"/gate is a little flimsy and in an early panic one morning I pulled it all the way out, and it was harder to reinsert than you'd think. That's on me. I subtracted one star because the grinder is messy - ground coffee remains in the chute to dust the countertop on any bump, and when filling a portafilter it sprays out a little bit. But the timer function is the bees knees, once you figure out the proper time, you just bump the filter and you can walk away, knowing it will stop at just the right point.

I love how quiet this grinder is. I get a wonderful, uniform, fluffy grind that doesn’t clog in the shoot. The dosage is very consistent. The grind time, as well as the grind setting, is easy to adjust. The portafilter along with a regular dosing funnel does not fit without holding the portafilter under the shoot while grinding. In order for it to be hands free you would need to purchase the dosing funnel designed for this grinder that has an open back. I prefer to have a full funnel. It grinds quickly so I don’t mind holding the portafilter. If I had a negative comment on this grinder it would be that it would be nice for it to work better with a full funnel. This is a great grinder for espresso beans and I am very pleased with it so far.

So far it is great! We did swap out the hopper as it was just clear plastic. Looks great with our Profitec.
