I can confirm I did not have any issues with the usb c power from the monitor to my MacBook Pro. This monitor has everything previous models fell short of. Good speakers, usb c port among the firmware which to date has shown no bugs (tested 10 days). Will update this review if issues do come about. But as of now, this is such a great and necessary model needed to be released from LG.
