Gaggia Magenta Plus

This is our 4th Gaggia. Two Breras, one still actively working, and now the Prestige. In short, we think the Prestige is incredible. Took a week or two to get used to it, but after a month or two we got the hang of it and love it. The espresso tastes better than ever. The selection is extensive although I doubt we will ever use more than 3 or 4, The fact that the user can vary several parameters is a fantastic feature, The automatic milk/foam container does a great job. It was very helpful to have YouTube videos by Whole Latter Love on the subject . Sometimes the small drawing in the directions booklet are not that discernible or understandable. I like the water tray and puck catcher. So easy to use and clean. The touch screen is fabulous. Makes it so easy to find a selection, and modify it/save it if you want. Considering what espressos cost these day at cafes these days, the machine pays for itself in no time at all. I highly recommend this machine.

It’s OK. The milk carafe has been a frustration. I don’t think it’s user error. I know how to face the milk reservoir so that the indent faces forward. Insertion of the carafe is clunky. Seems like the engineering of that piece should work smoother. I still get a lot of error messages and when you do it means you have to try inserting it again and then go through the whole menu of how to prepare your drink. Also, I know the ratios of liquids are optimized for an Italian style servings of the various drinks it can make, and we’re not ‘supersize’ me type people but it would be nice to have an option for larger sizes rather than having to go through the menu multiple times for a larger drink.

We love our machine and premier cup of joe. We use it every day. The ease of the machine makes a hot cup of coffee with freshly crushed beans, possible at any hour! It’s true!

Great coffee with a steep learning curve. Starting operation took a long time and was very frustrating. Enough that I read reviews of people returning because they could never get it to work correctly. I spent 2 hours googling and watching videos before I found what I was doing wrong. Instructions in the packaging are useless. But if you can figure it out, great coffee and a good machine, bit loud and have to run it twice to get a full coffee cup worth.

I enjoy it! The steps are simple and the machine will tell you when maintenance tasks need to be done, which is handy as a first-timer.
