Unfortunately, the printer regularly runs "maintenance" tasks in order to consume ink. And guess what the printer does next? Recommends buying more printer ink!! Frankly most printers are the same with basic capabilities - so the 'better' printer is the one that doesn't try to use up all the ink in the background.

Don’t buy. Horrible product horrible customer service. I printed a handful of items since I bought it. I purchased it in 2020. It has never properly work. Money in the trash.

I bought this printer July 2020 and used it close to 4 years until it became completely unusable due to a blue screen error B8493FE4. I did all sort of acrobatics to see how I can fix this error. I used the machine's internal updates, restarts as well as playing with its cables. Nothing will fix it. It will turn on, give you the hope that it will work this time and will end up with a blue screen. Good luck with troubleshooting or a fix. Of course by this time it was conveniently past the warranty scope. I made some research and everyone was raving about Brother monochrome lasers. And I'm making the transition today. TLDR: It may serve the home printer purpose for a little while but you won't know when it's going to break. Longevity seems to suck. NOT sure why some "reputable" reviewers are recommending this printer. That's why I got it at the time. I also think that signing up for the Inkjet cartridge subscription was probably a mistake too. I hope this helps!

this has never worked correctly. I print maybe 20-30 pages a month max, mostly B&W, and I am blowing through cartridges like lightning. the networking has also never worked consistently, always had to run it wired by USB. I am giving up and buying a Brother laser. HP, you have disappointed me for the last time.
