I bought this to connect my Jlab Talk Go USB microphone to my iPad Mini. I wasn’t sure if I needed a USB splitter, to power the microphone, but so far it works good without any additional equipment. My iPad Mini is holding it’s charge, while plugged in, as well. Haven’t tried it with a USB flash drive, or my external hard drive, yet, but I really wasn’t planning on using it for that. I’m going to assume that it will work fine, if/when I do choose to use it for that purpose.

I purchased the Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter for use with my Audioquest Dragonfly Black USB portable DAC on my iPhone 6+. It's worth noting that the Dragonfly Black draws enough power, requiring you to plug your iPhone's AC to lightning charging cable into the Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter to power it. The iPhone battery is not enough alone to run my Dragonfly Black. I have also used an external battery to power it. I believe the Dragonfly Red has the same power specs. However, I believe that the newest Dragonfly Cobalt might be able to run off your iPhone's internal battery.

This is a very good device to have, especially when you or your kids want to use an external podcast mic with an iPad or iPhone. My only beef is it is pricey, although Amazon recently dropped the price.

I purchased this item so I could read files from my flash drive on my iPad 8. What I didn't know is that those file would be corrupted after I opened them. That device itself works fine, but it has something to do with the Apple iOS system that cause the corruption. I wish I would've known this before I spent $30 and no longer can return it
