Very comfortable. Wear them for three to four miles of walking with my dog daily. However, walking in morning dew on grass makes your socks moist by the end of the walk. Waterproof? No Water resistant? Not really.

I absolutely love the challenger gtx 7 so had high hopes for the 8 version. Unfortunately, the entire sole fell apart after just two hikes/trail runs! I do use trail runners off-trail & on rugged trail at times; however, I have never had this problem with previous versions. The sole was flapping and needed to be ripped off so I would not trip down the trail. This is a horrible design & unfortunately I've struck out with my last two "new & improved" Hoka styles (terrible design flaws, flimsy product, yet still very expensive). Planning to return. In comparison, after the 8s literally fell apart on a week long vacation, I switched back to my old 7 version (6+ months heavy use) & was able to hike another 60+ miles in those in several days & they are still holding up! We keep saying it, but the "women's" colors are also kind of unfortunate. The lighter colors become dirty fast...but I would take any color to get the 7 gtx version back!

This waterproof hiking shoe from Hoka is great! (I don't like the pinkish color and got the graphite. Better color choices please!) They are very comfortable and supportive. I wear a size 8 and bought a size 8. (The Gortex liner does take up a tiny bit of interior space.) These shoes are traveling to Scotland with me in August, where we'll be hiking around Edinburgh and the Highlands.

I bought these for a trip to Banff because I already had other trail running shoes, but nothing waterproof. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable they were, even after wearing them for long days of hiking and exploring. They do run a little narrow in my opinion, although that may be more of a Hoka fit in general rather than this specific model. I normally run in New Balance 880s, and these are noticeably narrower by comparison. Overall, I am very satisfied with the comfort, waterproofing, function, and colorway.

I had to return mine, as it was causing my feet to pronate. One foot seemed to pronate in so much that my heels felt off. I don't know if this shoe happened to an isolated shoe manufactured improperly, as I've previously been happy with my Hokas.
