Nice for protection and potentially flare protection (although the kit lenses are almost completely resistant to such effects), but the price is just crazy.

I bought an after-market lens hood for my Nikon 18-55 mm lens which was mounted on my Nikon D7200. During a trip to Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand, the lens hood kept coming off and nearly got lost. I then decided to get the OEM Nikon Lens Hood for this lens.

Important to know that when attaching the lens hood one needs to turn it firmly and will click into place so it will not fall off. There were no instructions and I had never purchased this item before .
