Le Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome offre des photos noir et blanc exceptionnellement nettes et peu bruitées grâce à son capteur monochrome dédié. L'appareil est solide, tropicalisé et propose une excellente ergonomie. La stabilisation intégrée fonctionne bien, même si le gain réel est souvent de 2-3 stops. Les inconvénients sont l'écran fixe, l'autofocus lent en live view et la récupération limitée des hautes lumières en raw. L'appareil ne convient qu'à la photographie noir et blanc et il est relativement lourd et volumineux pour un modèle APS-C. Il s'adresse surtout aux passionnés de noir et blanc pur qui apprécient la qualité de fabrication et la prise en main.

The Pentax K-3 Mark III Monochrome is quite an oddball in that it's limited to shooting black and white, but is also an expensive APS-C DSLR in the age of mirrorless cameras. It’s a hefty beast too, but image quality is fantastic and handling is excellent, providing an enjoyable shooting experience for those who are happy to only shoot mono.

It's rare for a review topic for hardware to overlap with the desire to keep from spreading spoilers for wonderful surprises, but that's where the K-3 iii Monochrome DSLR lives. The controls are simple, and the lag from pondering how to scale color channels and interpolate a Bayer array color image wasn't worth it. The K-3iiiM is taking images of light, again. The hardware fits the hand and the controls are where you can reach to find them while looking through the viewfinder. And the ...

The Pentax K-3 III Monochrome is a strange beast, to say the least. A DSLR in a world dominated by mirrorless, a monochrome sensor when the overwhelming majority of cameras work in color, a niche camera from Pentax, by all accounts a niche player.

Good Points: The Pentax menu system is more straightforward than on my Nikons and Olympus cameras; I like having more knobs to control settings as we have on Pentax, and they are well placed too. This camera in particular is a joy to use, looks superb in its matt black finish and muted branding, and the images output are really contrasty, lovely. Improvement Points: Nothing to improve, it's great!
