Kodak Pixpro SP360 4K review: an affordable VR...

As far as VR action cams go, the PixPro SP360 4K is an admirable stab at the genre.

First 360

It's an Ok 360 camera. Negative reviews for this mean nothing to me. It's Kodak, it works, it didn't cost a lot, and for what I want it's great.

VERY GOOD VIDEOS UNDERWATER

I have purchased my third Kodak Pixpro SP 360 for a purpose. An underwater impression of a swimming pool during swimming events. It works very well. The action activated video gives very good results. There's only a minor setback: the images is never full 360°. A thin slice of frame is cut out . Never the same way. In my first camera (which went lost) it was on one side, but not too evident. In the second one, it was too evident (sent back). In this one is on both the sides, but negligible. One warning. It takes micro sim up to 32 Gb only.

Not perfect, but great results for a planetarium,

I am buying my second pair. I do not use it for 360x360 but for hemispherical video. The video quality is in excess of what our 2.5 K planetarium can display. Color is rich and it is easy to operate. Downsides, not great in low light and has a limited dynamic range - bright sun and shadows do not work well together. the biggest problem is losing the files when I eject it from my Mac - yielding a format drive option. The solution is to take the memory card out of the camera in order to transfer files. The biggest problem is editing - FCP and Premiere are useless. Youtube also downgrades the video quality for streaming - see the Washington National Cathedral and Antarctica and Kepler vs. Tycho at my youtube channel. So, what is a good editor which allows for output that Youtube will accept as FCP and Premiere cannot do this?

Video Quality is too far from 4K

You have to assemble the system using coin as a tool every time you want to make video. After that you have to disassemble in order to reach cameras USB ports (stupid design). The quality of video is not 4K, it is much much worse than 720P. The stiching process is very difficult and even Kodak shows a pretty bad quality of stiching in the demonstartion clip.
